About Vanessa Briscoe, PhD, APRN

Vanessa Briscoe, PhD, APRN, is a board-certified nurse practitioner who has cared for patients since 1984. She earned her degree from Vanderbilt University and has spent over 40 years helping people, especially older adults, manage chronic conditions like diabetes.

Dr. Briscoe has worked in many areas of healthcare, including teaching future nurses and doing diabetes research. She helped start the Gerontology program at Bethune-Cookman University and worked at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Most recently, she worked as a clinical manager for a home care company in Florida.

She has always had a heart for helping people. Her passion for nursing started at age six when her mom gave her a sweatshirt that said, “My Daughter the Nurse.” Since then, she has followed that path with love and dedication. She believes in treating the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—and in meeting people where they are.

Dr. Briscoe enjoys cooking old family recipes, walking on the beach, and collecting seashells to make gifts for friends and family. She starts her day with prayer and meditation, and she finds peace and strength through her faith. She also volunteers with programs for seniors and helps lead a free clinic in Volusia County.

Dr. Briscoe’s goal is to build strong relationships with her patients and support them on their health journey with care, compassion, and trust.
