Dr. Hursel Adkins earned his medical degree from the West Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine and began his medical career with an internship in 1989. He is board-certified in Family Medicine by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) and has held Associate Clinical Professorships throughout his career.
Growing up in a small village in Northwest Ohio, Dr. Adkins was inspired by his local physician, Dr. Fast—a dedicated rural doctor who made house calls, treated patients at all hours, and even accepted services in barter. Witnessing this level of care firsthand, combined with his own experiences as a child with asthma, motivated Dr. Adkins to pursue a career in medicine.
Before joining Complete Health, Dr. Adkins owned and practiced at Fort Myers Family Medicine for over 20 years, earning recognition for his work in the community.
Outside of the office, he enjoys bicycling, cooking, playing guitar, and collecting antiquarian books. He is also a Ham Radio Operator with an Extra Class license and a passionate Ohio State Buckeyes fan. His favorite movies include Babette’s Feast, Imitation of Life (Lana Turner), The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Sunset Boulevard.
Dr. Adkins is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care and looks forward to serving the Deland community.
