Dr. John W. Farley is a fourth-generation physician with over two decades of leadership in clinical practice and healthcare management. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care, Dr. Farley built and led a thriving primary care practice in Birmingham, Alabama, for more than 20 years. His extensive career spans a broad spectrum of healthcare, including value-based care, medical management, post-acute medicine, and end-of-life care. He has held several prominent leadership roles, including Chief Medical Officer for Ascension Medical Group Alabama and Chairman of the Board for a physician-hospital organization representing five hospitals and 550 physicians. Dr. Farley has also served on quality and utilization boards for multiple insurance companies, lending his expertise in improving patient outcomes and system efficiencies. A graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Dr. Farley earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has been recognized multiple times by Birmingham Magazine as one of the area’s best primary care physicians. Deeply committed to his community, Dr. Farley has served as a board member for Special Equestrians, supported adults with special needs through Rainbow Omega, and contributed to numerous hospital committees and the Jefferson County Board of Directors. Inspired by his family's legacy in medicine dating back to 1894, Dr. Farley is passionate about patient-centered care and driving meaningful change in the healthcare system. His dedication to service continues with his son, now representing the fifth generation of physicians in the Farley family. His professional expertise includes clinic operations, value-based care, quality and utilization management, physician leadership, enhancing the patient experience, and providing compassionate end-of-life care.
