Alexis Bowen, MD is a board-certified family medicine physician and earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
She is passionate about women’s health, patient education, and preventive care. She believes strongly in helping patients fully understand their diagnoses and treatment options so they can make informed decisions that align with their goals and values. She chose primary care for its variety and its emphasis on prevention, continuity, and long-term patient relationships.
Dr. Bowen’s interest in medicine began early, sparked by a high school anatomy class that led her to pursue every biology and healthcare-related course she could. Hands-on experiences with physicians during her undergraduate years solidified her desire to become a doctor and ultimately led her to family medicine.
Before joining Complete Health, Dr. Bowen completed her family medicine residency at the University of Michigan Health / Sparrow Family Medicine Residency in Lansing, Michigan.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bowen enjoys reading, especially science fiction and fantasy, and even started a book club during residency. She loves going on walks with her husband and their dog, birdwatching during hikes, baking, and staying active through running, weightlifting, and roller skating. She’s also a Formula 1 fan and cheers for Ferrari.
